Wisconsin Farm Collaborations

Across Wisconsin, farmers, artists, and communities are joining forces to create experiences that celebrate the land, the people who work it, and the culture that grows from it.  Through farm tours and collaborative events, visitors are invited not only to see where their food comes from but also to connect with the stories, creativity, and traditions that make each farm unique.

Hill & Valley Exploration Tour – Sauk County

Each autumn, the Hill & Valley Exploration Tour invites visitors to experience the beauty, traditions, and hospitality of rural Wisconsin. Now in its 9th year, this celebration of rural living brings together farms, artists, and local businesses across northern Sauk, Juneau, and Richland Counties. Guests can enjoy farm-to-fork meals, discover local art and goods, visit a historic folk art site, and connect with the vibrant small farm community. Bring a cooler for farm-fresh finds, an extra sweater for crisp fall days, and mud boots—because this is country fun, rain or shine.

Apple River Farm Tour – Polk County

The Apple River Farm Tour is more than just a scenic journey—it’s a celebration of the ties that bind farms, waterways, and communities. Named for the Apple River, which winds past homes, businesses, and fields before joining the St. Croix River, the tour brings together farm families, local businesses, artists, and residents. Visitors can meet farmers of all scales and generations, taste fresh, locally grown products, and learn about farming practices that protect soil and water. It’s an invitation to discover the beauty, flavors, and stories of Polk County while exploring its nearby trails, parks, and local attractions.

Wormfarm Institute & Art Farm Tour – Sauk County

Blending agriculture and the arts, the Wormfarm Institute offers a unique twist on the farm tour experience. Founded by artists Donna Neuwirth and Jay Salinas after moving from Chicago to the Driftless Region, the Wormfarm transformed a dairy barn into a creative hub with studio space, a CSA program, and an artist residency. Today, it’s nationally recognized for its role in rural creative placemaking, particularly through its Farm/Art DTour, which weaves art installations, farm visits, and scenic drives into one immersive journey. By uniting farming, conservation, and the arts, Wormfarm inspires fresh perspectives on rural life while fostering collaboration between urban and rural communities.

These collaborative farm tours highlight a shared commitment: to connect people with the land, strengthen community bonds, and celebrate the diversity of rural life. Whether through a farm-stay bed & breakfast, a watershed-wide tour, or an art-infused drive through the countryside, each experience offers visitors a chance to slow down, savor the moment, and see Wisconsin’s agricultural heritage in a new light.
