  • Expanding Our Reach in Natural Resources Management
    Stevens Point
    800 Reserve Street
Join us as we kick off the Wisconsin Center for Wildlife's 2019 Spring Seminar Speaker Series on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at 4 p.m. in the Trainer Natural Resources building room 170 on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point campus. Associate Professor and Extension Wildlife Specialist at Oregon State University, Dana Sanchez will present "Challenges to Equity and Inclusion in a Field that Breathes Biodiversity." Achieving equitable representation, retention, promotion, and success among individuals from traditionally underrepresented identity groups has been a persistent challenge in natural resource disciplines and institutions. Oregon State University's Department of Fisheries and Wildlife recognized the need to get intentional about addressing these deficits and developed its first Diversity Plan ten years ago. The journey to improving our daily practices as individuals and as a unit continues. Many of the challenges we are wrestling mirror those faced at the discipline and institution scales.
